  • What is the current poverty rate in your community for older adults?
  • Which organizations specifically target older adluts with financial services?
  • Do local governments offer property tax exemptions?
  • Do local governments allow older adults to perform services, including teaching, that can be applied towards property taxes?
  • Are reverse mortgage options available?
  • Are there resources and services to educate/help people manage their retirement income? If so, who?
  • What services and resources are offered?
  • Are there daily money management services? (Texas Money Management Program)
  • Will the financial services in your community meet the needs of the projected number of older adults in your community in five, 10, or 20 years?

BUILDING YOUR COMMUNITY

  • Are older adults aware of the financial services available to them?
  • How do older adults learn about financial services available to them?
  • What are the current methods of outreach to educate older consumers about financial services?
  • How can outreach/awareness to older adults be improved?
  • Do financial services meet the needs cited by older adults?
  • Are older adults in your community able to access the available financial services?
  • Are the financial services in your community culturally appropriate with regard to:
    • Age
    • Language barriers for people who don't speak English
    • Literacy levels
    • Race/ethnicity
    • Disability
