National Center for Elder Abuse
The National Association of State Units on Aging administers the center and performs duties such as providing elder abuse information to professionals and the public, offering technical assistance and training to agency staff and other professionals, conducting short-term research, and assisting in elder abuse policy development and advocacy. The NCEA consists of a consortium of six partner organizations:
- The National Association of State Units on Aging
- American Bar Association Commission on Law and Aging
- The University of Delaware 's Clearinghouse on Abuse and Neglect of the Elderly
- The Institute on Aging's San Francisco Consortium for Elder Abuse Prevention
- The National Association of Adult Protective Service Administrators
- National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse
In 2001, the NCEA convened its first-ever National Policy Summit to obtain input from elder abuse stakeholders around the country. The responses resulted in the identification of seven priority areas that included filling gaps in services, educating the public, training professionals, enhancing adult protective services, increasing prosecution, maximizing resources, and eliminating policy barriers.
