Therapeutic recreation
Therapeutic recreation is provided in many long-term care facilities. Activities are provided by certified, registered and/or licensed professionals. Their expertise allows them to meet the interests of individual residents and enhance their physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. The main function of therapeutic recreation is to restore, remediate or rehabilitate the health of people who are ill or have disabilities by improving functioning and independence, thereby improving health and well-being.
