Volunteerism creates opportunities for older adults to participate in unpaid services and activities within a wide range of settings, thus providing a positive impact in the community and the life of the individual. For more information visit the Volunteerism section of Aging Texas Well.

Employment opportunities, such as the Senior Community Service Employment Program ( SCSEP), subsidizes part-time community service jobs for low-income people 55 and older who have poor employment prospects, and can also help older adults stay active in their communities. Participation in spiritual or religious organizations allows many seniors to remain spiritually connected and socially engaged. For more information visit the Spirituality section of Aging Texas Well.

Education and life-long learning opportunities allow older adults to remain connected through programs including Elderhostels, colleges courses, or participation in activities offered at public libraries. For more information visit the Education section of Aging Texas Well.
