Volunteerism
Volunteer with DADS
The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) provides people, organizations and communities with opportunities to enhance the lives and service delivery needs of older Texans and people with disabilities. Examples include:
- creating Texercise Teams to promote fitness;
- becoming a volunteer at your local state school;
- working as a group at a long-term care facility (nursing home, assisted living facility or adult day care center) in the Adopt A Nursing Home program;
- repairing computers for qualified children at local schools with the Computers for Learning program; or
- advocating for quality of life and care for residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities through the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.
